My Favourite Things This Week

I came across at post on IG recently that said: "We all have 2 choices:  we can make a living or we can design a life". Sigh, no pressure right?  Sometimes I think that things seem too big, or too overwhelming, or just "too" of whatever for us to take them on.  It's...

My Favourite Things This Week

Well, it was about time I delivered a post full of superficial things that bring me joy and love.  And that they did this week.  This was the kind of week that I felt like I hit a wall, fell into a slump and felt "somewhat uninspired".  We all have them - days, weeks...

Isla Pearl Lifestyle Day: When Women Come Together

Last week I hosted my first Isla Pearl Lifestyle Day.  The old me would have wanted to throw a celebrity worthy event (trust me, there were moments) and then I realized that I just needed to start small and have a good intention and purpose behind it.  So I did, and...

My Favourite Things This Week

I live a pretty balanced life for the most part.  As hard as I work, I take just as much time for myself (gasp!  I know right - so selfish!), for every timbit (or box) there is clean and healthy eating and for every day that I sit and work at my computer you can be...

Your Platform, Your Stage, Your Circle of Influence

My professional life was always rooted in "more".  After all, isn't that the focus of all business? more revenue, more profit, more customers, more sales, more reach, more products, more services, more success, more, more, more - right?  So when I started this Blog my...

My Favourite Things This Week

Let's be honest, my Favourite Thing this week is the prep and lead up to my first Isla Pearl Lifestyle Day.  Its not a bad week when each day another person registers, a new partner comes on board to support you and swag arrives daily to fill generously donated gift...

When a Good Day Turns Bad

You know those days that you just want to start over?  Yesterday was one of those days.  It started off somewhat on track but quickly derailed when my 2-year old spilled a large coffee on me (by 'me' I mean me wearing a crisp white shirt and cream long coat - yeah,...

I was doing some research last night for a few projects (seriously - when Pinterest, Google and Instagram are the foundation of your research you realize this gig of yours is pretty good).

I've always had a crush on SJP. It started before the age of 10 when my sister and I would recreate scenes from "Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Safe to say we both evolved from there and my love affair continued with her and her style throughout her Sex and the City run. There is something about her spirit and honesty that I love. The thing is subconsciously you are attracted to "like" things - it's why you gravitate towards them and are inspired by them.

Outside of the fact that I love this pic (and feel that if you had captured a pic of me this week my expression pretty much would have been the same) came this quote from SJP:

"Follow your instincts and do not let other people's opinion of you become your opinion of yourself".

Happy Friday Everyone! xo

As of late I have been in a "rut". Somewhat uninspired and just not my usual focused self. A lot of thoughts, ideas and visions in my head but not able to put them into motion.

I talk a lot about surrounding yourself with people that lift you up and inspire you - yesterday was the perfect example of this. One day with this beautiful, funny, articulate and focused soul and I officially feel re-energized, rejuvenated and back on track (the pizza, champagne and fashion show didn't hurt).

For anyone who had the pleasure of meeting the Smithery team at my Isla Pearl Lifestyle Day a few weeks ago you know what I am talking about. The exciting part is yesterday was about much more than pizza, champagne, girl-talk and a shameless fashion show - it was about creating plans and how we believe in delivering positive and helpful information to women so that they can feel at their best.

We're going to deliver......and its pretty exciting! xo

The biggest thing that I have learned being out on my own working for myself is that you need to believe in yourself (often beyond measure) because if you don't, nobody else will. You need to have a vision, determination, focus and drive because there is no boss to push you along, guide, lead or add pressure (ah hm) to an already pressure filled situation. The thing is, when you do accomplish whatever it is that you set out to do, you did it on your own. Your idea, your hard work and your perseverance.

I have no idea what my childhood dream was - I'm sure it had something to do with becoming a professional barbie player and part time hairdresser (I practiced on the barbies). Whatever the dream - make sure it's yours and that it fulfills you - nobody else.

Images. It's basically how we assess, judge and "see" the world nowadays. I'll be the first to admit that I scroll through a double tap like nobody's business but the flip side to this is that we are missing out on the content. The stories, the reasons and "the why" behind the perfect image beyond a beautiful dress. I like a great dress just as much as the next girl but it's my story and "my why" that matters - the content of my life 💕 || #mywhy #contentcreator #contentmarketing ... See MoreSee Less
